Our first endemic bird, minutes after arriving at the highest elevation point of Tatama National Park. This bird only occurs at high elevation points in the Western Andes. Population size scattered across habitats is estimated at 1000-2499, and decreasing.

The chestnut-bellied flowerpiercer is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is endemic to Colombia.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland. It is threatened by habitat loss.
