Upon arriving at the highest elevation point of Tatama National Park, a 20km drive from the Montezuma, this was the first bird to greet us in the cloud forest.

The rufous-collared sparrow is an American sparrow found in a wide range of habitats, often near humans, from the extreme south-east of Mexico to Tierra del Fuego, and on the island of Hispaniola.
