  1. There is already a Diaethria clymena but not with the subspecies. Hopefully one of the others will advise as to whether a species can be made with a subspecies, unfortunately I can't remember!
Great shot though! I would love to see one of these!

    1. But never mind let the experts fight it out, I was glad to find them between my friend Laura's cows :) Posted 7 years ago
      1. Absolutely! It is way beyond me, just wanted to point out the other photos. I have no doubt that there will be more on this but yes, you are very lucky to have seen it! Posted 7 years ago
  2. Ferdy also has a photo of this subspecies:
Cramer's Eighty-eight (Diaethria clymena marchalii), Santa María, Colombia This is the marchalii sub species of Diaethria clymena, popular name "eighty eight". It looks like I found a zero zero instead, but if you look closely, you can see faint dots appearing inside the circles. For some reason, a large group of them was interested in this piece of concrete wall at the beginning of the Reserva Almenara path in Santa María. 1. Ferdi's is another subspecies. It is clearly an 88, mine is an 89.. which I dutifully looked up in INBIO.
      even superslow BOA agrees :)
