I'd of course prefer to separate the bird from the feeder, but in this case it's the only good shot showing this species' awesome color. This species occurs in the Western Andes. The long tail indicates that this is the male. The violet-tailed sylph is a species of hummingbird. It is found in Colombia and Ecuador. This sylph lives in areas from 300–2,100 metres in elevation, though typically above 900 metres on the west slope of the Andes.
