  2. I like the mirror lens technology itself offering big focal length while being cheap and lightweight at the same time. But I find the sharpness of this photo a bit disappointing, I guess close-up is not the right application for this lens.
Looking forward to see more pictures made with this lens. If they are good I might buy one myself :)

    1. I agree, the sharpness can better. But I like the unsharpness of this picture and the glow in the web. It seems, manual focussing against the sun is difficult as you can see in this picture.

Another example of a picture made with this lens, see http://www.flickr.com/photos/45328076@N06/7754391016/

The lens of the Samyang is 119,5 mm long and the weight is 705 g. But I think it’s hard to make pictures without a tripod. I use a APS-C camera, so the actual focal length should be additionally multiplicated by 1,5x and it will be 750mm. The price is very attractive, with adaptor for the T mount, about 185 euros.

  3. Hi Josine! Hey, funny thing I was reading about the lens yesterday. Typical donut shaped bokeh, I nested of a circleshape. Well talk soon, like tomorrow;) I saw a lot of other pics by this lens type and the sharpness is normally quite ok given the price of the lens. I am curious as to the chromatics of the mirror, as opinions differ a lot.
Btw your crop as with many consumer or prosumer dslrs is factor 1.6, making your lens effectively an 800mm lens. you bought it at Photo Weert? I saw the lens in the shop window a few days ago. Have fun with it!

    1. Yes, I bought at Photo Weert. Only the 800 mm is in the window shop now. Posted 13 years ago
  4. Perhaps make a photo list of the samyang, keeps us informed as how it feels and works. Curious too;) same here, if it is good value for money, I'll buy it too;) Posted 13 years ago
    1. It's a photo of Harry, I just wrote a comment to stimulate people to look at the other photo which is mine... It's also Harry who bought this objective ;-) Posted 13 years ago
    2. Is done. See: Posted 13 years ago

The spider species "Araneus diadematus" is commonly called the European garden spider, diadem spider, orangie, cross spider and crowned orb weaver. It is sometimes called the pumpkin spider, although this name is also used for a different species, "Araneus marmoreus". It is an orb-weaver spider found in Europe and North America.
