  1. Fantastic capture! Posted 7 years ago
    1. Thanks Stuart - it's about just at the limit of my (low budget) equipment, so I'm quite happy with it ;o) Cheers, Arp Posted 7 years ago
      1. As many have said previously, absolutely nothing wrong with low budget equipment and pictures like this just go to show that it's not the equipment that makes the shot! Looking back at my older pictures, I actually think my old pics using the kit lens, broken ring flash and super cheap magnification lens attachments are actually better than some of the shots I've taken with my 60mm macro lens and fully working ring flash lol. Clearly I need more practice :D Posted 7 years ago

Cardiocondyla obscurior is a small (~1.5 mm) yellow to yellowish brown tropical species of Ants in the tribe Crematogastrini (Formicidae: Myrmicinae). It is a member of the "Cardiocondyla wroughtonii group" with various very similar species, with an assumed origin in Southeast Asia.
Being an accomplished "tramp ant" it has formed populations around the globe, including even in northern Europe. It is polygynous, and often founds new colonies by nest splitting.
