  1. Now this is a creature I would love to see in the wild, lucky you. (I am in coastal NSW). Did it beat a hasty retreat when you crossed paths, or hung around a while? It looks to be a great size. What an awesome sighting. Posted 5 years ago
    1. We (3 of us) had actually walked past it when I noticed it just behind.
      I carefully approached and the snake showed no real reaction and I got my photos.
      Afterwards it was still quietly basking where we had found it - a perfect encounter!

The eastern brown snake, often referred to as the common brown snake, is a species of genus Pseudonaja. This snake is considered the world's second most venomous land snake based on its LD50 value in mice. It is native to Australia, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
