Features include olive-brown or grayish brown, flat to funnel-shaped cap that often has a shallowly ribbed margin when mature, distant whitish gills, brownish club-shaped stem, mild odor.

cap- 5-20cm across flat becoming sunken to funnel-shaped in age, with enrolled margin that becomes wavy, olive-brown to grayish or blackish brown, smooth, finely felty or scaly. gills- decurrent, close, narrow, whitish to cream, long-decurrent, when old with decurrent ridges running down the stem.
