
Common Water Hyacinth - Eichhornia crassipes
The Common Water Hyacinth - Eichhornia crassipes is an invasive aquatic plants to Philippines. They are not supposed to do well in salt water but in recent years, they can be seen in good numbers along the coast. In fresh water lake, they have become a problem.
This picture was taken from underwater as a bunch of them floats in the sea near a dive site I was diving at.
"Pontederia crassipes" - commonly known as common water hyacinth, - is an aquatic plant native to the Amazon basin, and is often a highly problematic invasive species outside its native range. It is the sole species of "Pontederia" subg. "Oshunae".
