Japanese Burnet
Japanese Burnet (Sanguisorba obtusa), in Dutch "Pimpernel". No wiki page available.
Soft pink flowers, which open from the top of the nodding spike downwards, provide a delightful accompaniment to the grey-green foliage. This popular and showy species looks wonderful when allowed to naturalise in large swathes in meadows or prairie-style planting schemes.

Sanguisorba obtusa is a perennial growing to 1 m (3ft 3in) by 0.6 m (2ft). It is in flower from June to July. The flowers are hermaphroditic (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Insects.
