Long Day
This male House Finch and his partner endured such a fierce storm, looking after their nestlings. Here he is, drying off after the rain, seemingly catching his breath and reflecting on what just happened (but actually just staring at something down below). In the end, everyone survived and the young birds have since "flown the coop".

The House Finch is a bird in the finch family Fringillidae, which is found in North America. This species and the other "American rosefinches" are usually placed in the rosefinch genus "Carpodacus". It has been proposed to place them in a distinct genus "Burrica", but the American Ornithologists Union rejected a proposal to do so in 2008.
