Young Mallard... Anas platyrhynchos
Anas platyrhynchos... I was patient and fortunate enough to have a family of young mallards and their mother feeding beside me in our flooded back yard. While cute and innocent, this little one had a sort of sinister expression as it looked up at me.

The mallard or wild duck is a dabbling duck that breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Eurasia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Falkland Islands, and South Africa.
