      Hey Stephen, that's not a downy, it's a red-naped sapsucker! Note large white edge to the wings, dirty gray belly, and the absence of a white neck patch. Posted 6 years ago

The Red-naped sapsucker

The red-naped sapsucker is a medium-sized North American woodpecker. Long thought to be a subspecies of the yellow-bellied sapsucker, it is now known to be a distinct species.
