  1. There is at least one more species with similar flowers - Psychotria poeppigiana. According to the description at EOL P. elata is distinguished from the very similar species, P. poeppigiana, by the lack of hairs on the leaves and stem (Gargiullo et al 2008). Have you considered the differences between them?

    1. I did see that there are very similar plants, I mostly went by our guides' identification (not a plant expert) who only went by its common name. Posted 8 years ago
      1. You know how it is with common names, there are many and some of them overlap between species. Any chance you might have a better focus on the stem of either of the plants? Posted 8 years ago
