It doesn't looks like this Paddle Fishes are meant to be kept in aquarium, all of them have 'damages' at the tip of their Paddle, probably constantly 'knocking' onto the walls/barriers that houses them.

    1. Yes, Claire, unfortunate but hopefully visitors who sees them at the River Safari will learn more about them.
      They are very primitive fish and now only 2 species can still be found, the other one is from China, which is listed as endangered. 4 more species are known only from fossil records.

The American paddlefish is a species of basal ray-finned fish closely related to sturgeons in the order Acipenseriformes. Fossil records of paddlefish date back over 300 million years, nearly 50 million years before dinosaurs first appeared.
