
mulga parrot (Psephotus varius)
This was a sim lorikeet-like parrot with most of its body a lovely emerald green. There was a small patch of yellow above the beak and a bar of yeallow on the wings. The back of the neck had a patch of red and the lower belly showed some orange.
Tail feathers and tips of wings were tinged purple.
The bill was a blue-grey edged with black.
Spotted on open scrubland in a national park -New South Wales.

The mulga parrot , also known as the many-colored parrot, is endemic in arid scrublands and lightly timbered grasslands in the interior of southern Australia.
