
Banded Shrimpgoby - Cryptocentrus cinctus
The Banded Shrimpgoby - Cryptocentrus cinctus is yellow to gold with white to blue spotting on head, upper body and dorsal fins; may display faint bars. They share burrow with Alpheid Shrimp in a symbiosis way. The Gobies are usually seen 'guarding' the entrance of the burrows while the Alpheid Shrimp does the 'cleaning' of the burrows, carrying out debris and small pieces or rocks that falls into the burrow. The Alpheid Shrimps are blind and the Gobies gives them the 'signals' of when it is safe for them to come out by twitching its tails.

''Cryptocentrus cinctus'', the Yellow prawn-goby, is a species of goby native to the Western Pacific, where it can be found at depths of from 1 to 25 metres in coastal bays and lagoons. This species is commensal with alpheid shrimps. The species can reach a length of 10 centimetres SL. These fish vary greatly in appearance, ranging from brilliant yellow to gray and even brown forms or combinations of each coloring.This species is often kept in salt water aquariums.
