  1. Glad you found the ID, Jivko. In dutch we call this order "one day flies", referring to their short life span. Looks like you witnessed the few hours or days of its adulthood. Posted 8 years ago
  2. Hi Jivko,
    It's not Ephemera danica. From the species I know (northwest European) it would be (a female) Ephemera vulgata.
    According to FE Bulgaria has no other species than the ones known to me, but Ephemera hellenica, zettana and maybe parnassiana occur closely enough nearby to maybe be found in Bulgaria one day (??) and I have no good idea of the IDing characters and variability of these :-/
    Some other Ephemera on JD are misidentified too I think, so I'll have look, but these are not my speciality.

''Ephemera vulgata'' is a species of mayfly in the genus ''Ephemera''. This mayfly breeds in stationary water in slow rivers and in ponds, the nymphs developing in the mud.
