Due to the scarlet macaw being popularized in culture and as a pet, its beauty isn't noticed that easily. Yet here was the first time in our lives we saw it in the wild, or flying for that matter. And it truly is one of the most beautiful birds in the world in our opinion. I wish we could have spotted it closer to us, yet I do believe its back-side in flight is the most beautiful side, for that you need to zoom in. Front-side, cropped:

The scarlet macaw is a large red, yellow, and blue Central and South American parrot, a member of a large group of Neotropical parrots called macaws. It is native to humid evergreen forests of tropical Central and South America. Range extends from south-eastern Mexico to the Peruvian Amazon, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela and Brazil in lowlands of 500 m up to 1,000 m.
