Straight-billed woodcreeper, Inírida river, Colombia We found wood creepers to be omnipresent in the Colombian Amazon, but they are a tricky category to identify. I identified this one based on the bill (short and dagger-like, not curved), and the streaks on the head yet not the mantle, which is deep red overall. Almost identical reference here:<br />

The straight-billed woodcreeper is a species of bird in the woodcreeper subfamily . Its genus, ''Dendroplex'', was recently confirmed to be distinct from ''Xiphorhynchus''. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela.
