Common Water Strider, master of water
This predatory water bug is very common, yet I see few photos of it online, so here goes. Of course the remarkeable feature of this aggressive bug (it sucks victoms dry) is that it can walk on water. This photo clearly shows that weight distribution is the real secret. However, that's not the only technique in use by mother nature. The Emerald Basilisk uses wide surface feet combined with speed as a way to walk on water. Both work, but the Water Strider is the true master, as it can stand still on water.
"Gerris lacustris", commonly known as the common pond skater or common water strider, is a species of water strider, found across Europe.
