Ruppells Korhaan from horseback
We saw these nearv the Namib desert on a horseback sundowner. My wife is a real equestrian (i.e., the horse does what she wants) whereas I am a hopeless beginner (the horse does what IT wants and looks at me as if to say, "What did I do to deserve you?"), but the tour was great for both of us. Many animals won't react to a horse the way they do to a lnadrover, so you can get quite close to some animals like these.
The Rüppell's korhaan or Rüppell's bustard is a species of bird in the family Otididae. It is native to southwestern Africa in Angola and Namibia, occurring in semi-desert habitats.
