
Paradise Tree Snake - Chrysopelea paradisii
Saw this beautiful juvenile Paradise Tree/Flying Snake during a nigh walk. It was just less than 1 meter from the ground. I noticed it was kind of 'easily agitated' but wasn't sure why. It was trying to 'strike' at me when I tried to get more close-up shots and I didn't want to push my luck as at that time, I wasn't sure how venomous this Snake can be. Later when at home when going through the pictures, noticed that they eyes seems 'opaque' probably its going to shed skins, and that's when they easily gets nervous.

Paradise tree snake or Paradise flying snake, ''Chrysopelea paradisi'', is a species of snake found in southeastern Asia. It can, like all species of its genus ''Chrysopelea'', glide by stretching the body into a flattened strip using its ribs. It is mostly found in moist forests and can cover a horizontal distance of about 100 metres in a glide from the top of a tree. Slow motion photography shows an undulation of the snake's body in flight while the head remains relatively stable, suggesting controlled.. more
