Wild Nanday Parakeets visiting the lodge in the Pantanal
I am thrilled to be able to add the first uncaged Nanday Parakeets. These look pretty civilized given the bricks in the background - but they were wild and came to a feeding table at one of our Pantanal lodges. For great birdwatching in the Pantanal, often you don't even have to leave your lodge!

The Nanday Parakeet is also known as the Black-hooded Parakeet or Nanday Conure. The bird is native to South America from southeast Bolivia to southwest Brazil, central Paraguay and northern Argentina, from the region known as the pantanal.
