Spear thistle + bush cricket Although I'm pleased with the lighting on this spear thistle shot, I will remember it mostly as a missed opportunity. Check out the bush cricket sitting on the thistle on the left. I completely missed it. It would have been a nice macro opportunity, since I've never spotted one before. ''Cirsium vulgare'' is a species of the genus ''Cirsium'', native throughout most of Europe, western Asia, and northwestern Africa. It is also naturalised in North America and Australia and is as an invasive weed in some areas.
