Scutatus hoverfly on a leaf
The walking road from my hotel to the city leads through some bushes. I made sure I had my camera with macro lens ready to picture all interesting bugs along the way. This is one of them.
Dutch name: Schaduwplatvoetje (Platycheirus scutatus)
''Platycheirus scutatus'', is a very common species of hoverfly. It is found in many parts of Britain and Europe.
The larvae feed on aphids on low growing plants and trees. Adults feed on a wide range of flowers. They have multiple broods throughout the warmer months and have a very long flight period.
