
Nudibranch - Melibe coralophilia
This Nudibranch - Melibe coralophilia was newly described in the year 2012. This nudibranch is not commonly seen as only those familiar with the host coral will be able to find it.
It got its name coralophilia as it lives/feeds on a certain type of corals.

They are actually not rare, but also not too common.
Just that they can only be found on certain types of corals, and not many divers are aware of it :D
And even if you see their coral host, you may not find them, if you don't know what you are looking for.
It is hardly possible to get good pictures of them in their coral host, so some Spotters/Divemaster like in this case, carefully move them out to the open to show their guests/divers and return it to coral host after that. Posted 8 years ago
