Severn's Pygmy Seahorse
The Severn's Pygmy Seahorse - Hippocampus severnsi is among the smallest of the Pygmy Seahorse.
So, you have to imagine, Pygmy Seahorses are already very small, and this species is the tiniest among them, up to 1.7 cm including the tail.
They are free-living species and are almost the same shape as Pontoh's pygmy seahorse, but are a different colour: pale brown with red and orange patches. They can be found on any part of the reef, but often on hydroids and algal turf in pairs or small group.
Both Hippocampus severnsi and Hippocampus pontohi were described in the year 2008 but subsequently, there were doubts if they are actually both the same species. Am not sure if subsequently, there were further studies which should includes DNA to verify that.

Severn’s pygmy seahorse is one of the smallest known seahorses, reaching a maximum adult size of just 1.3 cm. It is usually dark brown in colour with a large red patch covering its shoulder. This species is known from Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. Sightings of the seahorse in the Philippines was first confirmed in 2014.
