Crested Pigeon comin' at ya
Before I traveled to Australia, I saw a picture of these in the guide book and hope to see one - it is such a strange variation on the typical pigeon. They turned out to be fairly common in New South Wales and South Australia, but always fun to see.
The crested pigeon is a bird found widely throughout mainland Australia except for the far northern tropical areas. Only two Australian pigeon species possess an erect crest, the crested pigeon and the spinifex pigeon. The crested pigeon is the larger of the two species.
