Two-Toned Pgymy Squid This Two-Toned Pygmy Squid - Idiosepius pygmaeus is very small in size, body around 1 cm.  If the tentacles are extended, then it is up to 2.5 - 3 cm.  Found this during low tide in a tidal pool, it changes colours as it swims near the surface to trying to hide among sea grasses.  This picture shows its pigmentation very clearly.<br />

It occurs in waters of the South China Sea, Japan, Philippines, Palau, Indonesia, Northern Mariana Islands, as well as northern and northeastern Australia. It inhabits shallow, inshore waters.
