Flasher Wrasse

This is a male of Line-spot Flasher Wrasse - Paracheilinus lineopunctatus. He swims among a group of female Flasher Wrasses and will 'flash' his pectoral fins as seen in the picture to get the interest of the females and also to 'fight off' competing males.

This is a highly cropped picture unfortunately. It is very difficult to get nearer to them to get better close-up picture using a point and shoot camera as they are rather shy. Also, one has to anticipate the 'flashing' as it is only for a split second.
