Sunset over Rio Negro tributary

Another Amazonian sunset but I especially like how the rays of the sun are cast in different directions.

  1. Very nice one, indeed. And I can tell from experience that a photo will not transfer the whole experience of an Amazon sunset: the air pressure, calming sounds, insects coming to life, the scents...hard to describe, but you know what I'm talking about. Posted 6 years ago
    1. Heh Ferdy, I didn't realize that you were also a poet! LOL. I do totally understand, and when you are in it you get used to it (we were 3 weeks in Brazil) and hardly notice it anymore but when you come back to Europe then you think back and it seems almost magical. I remember my very first visit to the tropics (Dominican Republic) and when I just stepped off of the plane, I was hit by the air - heavy with humidity and the scent of flowers and rotting vegetation. I remember thinking "Wow, so this is the tropics!". It reminded my of a tropic house in the zoo I had been to as a child. If only they could bottle this! Posted 6 years ago
      1. I'm thinking perhaps there's some dog in me. I'm very sensitive in detecting air pressure changes. Posted 6 years ago

          1. Heh, as the dutch have a reputation for being cheap (technically, Holland, not the whole country, but that's a different discussion) a popular insult is to say that a person would bark in their garden just to save themselves from the costs of having a dog. Posted 6 years ago
            1. Hmm, yes I have heard of that reputation - LOL Posted 6 years ago
