Apples in our tree Not the most interesting photo, but this has been the first time in 3 years that apples are growing again on the tree in our garden. We tried eating them once but they're sour and dry. Therefore, we'll let ants, aphids and ladybugs compete for them. An apple is an edible fruit produced by an apple tree. Apple trees are cultivated worldwide and are the most widely grown species in the genus "Malus". The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, "Malus sieversii", is still found today.
