      1. Well it could have been a lot better, since this was just a few days after my telephoto lens died on me, so it was taken with my little compact.
        They were common where I was staying, but very wary. I only ever got good views if they happened to land on a branch that I could see from where I already was. As soon as I moved, they took off.

The scaled pigeon is a large New World tropical dove. It is a resident breeder from southern Mexico south to western Ecuador, southern Brazil, northern Argentina, and Trinidad.

The scaled pigeon is fairly common in semi-open forest. It builds a stick platform nest in a tree and lays two white eggs.
