Eastern Grey Kangaroo shows off its hands On a nature walk in Grampians NP, near the visitor center, there was an open field where a number of these were lounging about. The reason I chose this photo, however, was because you can see the kangaroo's hands and it reminded me of what one of our naturalist guides said. I asked him what he thought about the old idea of having a kangaroo box with a human (Dshown in several movies, etc., due to the way male kangaroos fight - it looks like boxing). He laughed and said, take a look at their hands and their claws, one hit from a kangaroo and the human boxer would lose his face! And in this photo you can really see why he said that - check out those claws! Australia,Eastern grey kangaroo,Geotagged,Grampians NP,Macropus giganteus,Spring,Victoria Click/tap to enlarge

The eastern grey kangaroo is a marsupial found in southern and eastern Australia, with a population of several million. Although a big eastern grey male typically masses around 66 kg and stands almost 2 m tall, the scientific name, "Macropus giganteus", is misleading, as the red kangaroo of the semi-arid inland is, at 85 kg, larger.
