
Guianan streaked antwren, Inírida, Colombia
This little checkerboard with feet is the Guianan streaked antwren. This hypnotic alternating black and white is also found in some antshrike species, yet those have horizontal bars. Within the group of antwrens (which this one belongs to), there's three species having similar patterns. Our guide determined this one based on the throat, although I have no idea how. Side view:

The Guianan streaked antwren is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is found in tropical South America where its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, tropical swamps, and heavily degraded former forest. It is a small, black and white streaked bird, the female being distinguished by its rufous-cinnamon head and buff underparts.
