Tropical mockingbird, Inírida, Colombia Our jeep got stuck in this swamp in the Colombian Amazon, after which we waded through knee level water for two hours. The nice thing about this slow progression is that we could take our time to watch the surroundings. The many red dots you see in the photo are the locally endemic flower of In&iacute;rida:<br />

The jeep immediately got stuck in the water, and we had to continue on a 2 hour walk muddying through water at knee level. As we did so, we saw hundreds of these flowers. The locals cannot stop talking about it. It is locally endemic, quite beautiful and you&#039;ll see it in vases in everybody&#039;s house. Even when it is completely dried out, it is a nice piece of decoration. The tropical mockingbird is a resident breeding bird from southern Mexico south to northern Brazil, and in the Lesser Antilles and other Caribbean islands. The birds in Panama and Trinidad may have been introduced.
