Carpenter Bee ii I was not sure what this was at first. After some research I was surprised to find out it was a bee. Living in the western US all my life (long time) I had not seen this specific species until now. Arizona does bring in a lot of diversity of birds and insects.   1. This was one of 145 shots taken of this very busy guy. I almost gave up believing I captured one decent shot and pow I said to myself "gotcha sucker!"

    About photo: Single shot very little post processing. If I had my ISO up one more stop I might have stopped the wings but would have created too much noise for this clarity on the Canon 5Ds r.

  2. Thanks for the patience, I know from experience how frustrating it can be to capture an insect in flight. With ISO400 at 1/4000s, you must have gotten a great amount of daylight. Posted 8 years ago
