  1. Another fine image, Rudolph. As before, I should mention that the criticism that follows is to make something good better, and since you explicitly ask for such feedback :) A few points to think about:

    - ISO 1250 is needlessly high for a static subject. You could have easily achieved ISO100 since this subject doesn't move. You wouldn't even need a tripod for it, just positioning the camera on the ground would achieve that. That said, noise caused from ISO1250 isn't visible in the photo, so perhaps your camera took care of it, or you did, using software.

    - Good thing is that you're thinking about composition, clearly visible because you placed the subject off-center. Personally, I would have left a little more space on the top and on the right, to make it less boxed in. That's a matter of taste and opinion though.

    - You did an excellent job of isolating the subject from its background, creating that beautiful softness. The idea of doing that is to bring all focus on the foreground subject. Yet you forgot about the background. There's probably a tree in the background that is distracting. If the background would be all-green, your subject would be even better isolated, and the scene even more clean and pure. I make this mistake all the time, because DSLRs do not give you a preview of this. But it's something to keep in mind. @RMFelix is a master at this, for some inspiration:

Lestes dryas Lestes dryas, adult male, on a windy windy day. Emerald spreadwing,Lestes dryas, aeshnidae, anisoptera, biodiversity, dragonflies, dragonfly, insecta, insects, odonata, spring

    - Extra points for capturing the last light of the day correctly. You did not make the common mistake to push the contrast and saturation to unrealistic levels. Instead you captured the subtle colors of the moment that are between cold and warm.

You're rapidly improving and by taking feedback, I'm thinking you will very rapidly become an excellent photographer.

    1. thank you for the great feedback Ferdy. the ISO was indeed much too high. because sun was going under i decide to use auto ISO, because i thought that would help. that wasnt a smart decision. because it pushed the ISO to 1250. and when i imported the pictures i saw my mistake, alot of noise. i could eliminate the most hurting noise with lightroom thankfully, but i immediatly knew that using auto ISO was a mistake. so i learned the hard way with that.

thanks for the compliment about the composition. i indeed tried to get a good composition, i wanted to tell the story of the dandelion in a field of grass. and i achieved what i wanted. but maybe having a bit more room on the right side and on the top would have been a bit better. but indeed that is also taste and opinion.

that was indeed a tree, when i looked on my screen using liveview( i cant look through a oculair when lying on the ground, like most people i think)i thought it would add to the background. but when i imported the photo i saw in interferred. so i also learned thet i have to be more consious about my background and how it will look fullscreen on a pc. wow, he really is good at that, a very clean background. i will try to get it better, and to be more consious about the background.

thank you for the points for the lighting. i also used the jungledragon daylight planner for when to be in the park. and it paid off. i now understand why you need to be there at the right moment during dawn or sunset.

also thanks for the kind words at the end. i take this as a great compliment. i always try to learn from my mistakes and to get feedback so i can get better at things. learn new ways of thinking. i will try to keep getting better.

      1. It's easy to forget about auto ISO. I almost always have it on, because I mainly photograph moving subjects in rapidly changing conditions, and then forget to turn it off later.

Note that the background tip is really followed by very few people, including me. If you master to also take into account what exactly is on the soft background, you're already being quite exceptional.

Finally, you deserve the compliment. It's rare nowadays for people to take criticism well. Not only do you accept it, you ask for it. And it's even more rare to immediately put it into action. Like the thing you did with the light, that's really nice to hear that you did something with it. I mean it when I say that you will match some great photographers in a matter of months. Because you learn fast, more importantly, you have the right attitude.
