Three-eyed Malagasy Iguana
I love this lizard and I love one of the alternative names - the three-eyed lizard which you can clearly see in this photo (that is not actually a third eye on the top of its head but rather just a black spot but it sure looks like a third eye!). Small lizards are often a challenge to identify but this unique feature makes this one a breeze!
''Chalarodon madagascariensis'' is a species of Malagasy terrestrial iguanian lizard native to western, southern, and south eastern Madagascar. Until 2015, it was thought to be the only member of its genus, but a second species, ''C. steinkampi'' was recognised in 2015. It is not yet clear if the distributional range of these two species overlaps.
