
The golden-spangled piculet is a species of bird in the family Picidae. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.

That said, they can be wrong, like anyone. Unfortunately, the birding book I have has poor illustrations on these two and has just as much going for each of the two. Illustrations and descriptions do not seem conclusive, nor does the range.
So I think it's a fair challenge, but I don't have a clear answer, sorry!
