Moustached puffbird, Santa María, Colombia
Puffbirds are relatively stationary birds. They feed infrequently, taking large meals like large insects or small invertebrates. Once found, they are a joy for photographers, as they don't instantly flee. Finding them, however, just takes luck. You bump into one. More likely, you don't, and they will stare down on you without you knowing about their presence.
This moustached puffbird in Colombia is found around the Andes areas. This species is best distinguished by the rufous streaking on the belly, which isn't found in any other puffbird.

The moustached puffbird is a species of puffbird in the family Bucconidae. It is one of seven species in the genus ''Malacoptila.''
It is found in Colombia and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical and tropical dry forests, subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical and tropical moist montane forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
