  1. Not sure about this identification WildFlower, 'my' beet!E wasn't hairy. And the beetle looked much slimmer and elegant than ID picture. Posted 8 years ago
  2. It's Oxythyrea all right - the hairs rub off quite quickly, so "naked" specimen are very common. The other option to consider here would probably be O. pantherina, but I would also opt for funesta here :o) Posted 8 years ago

    1. It's the viewing angle - your image is more of a side view than dorsally, so it may appear to be more slender, but I' m sure that in a full dorsal view it would look just as wide ... Posted 8 years ago

"Oxythyrea funesta" is a phytophagous beetle species belonging to the family Scarabaeidae, subfamily Cetoniinae. This beetle is present in most of Europe, in the East Palearctic ecozone and in the Near East.
