Wooden Chrysomelid Beetle (paropsisterna lignea)  A beautiful striped leaf beetle about 12 mm long. The dark brown alternated with white stripes. The outer elytral margin appeared white and there were five dark stripes on each elytron - the first fusing with the second from the outer elytral margin and the third fusing with the fourth. The Pronotum was a pale brown with three back dots.<br />
This beetle is variable in appearance.<br />
Spotted on a Mountain Ash sapling (Eucalyptus regnans) in alpine Victoria.<br />

Paropsisterna lignea is very variable being brown, yellow or red, with ten lines, alternately filled or entirely unmarked. The pronotum sometimes has three dots.
