Peacock Day Gecko sampling the picnic table WE climbed to the top of some mountain in Ranomafana NP and collapsed in a small observation hut there. We were soon joined by this lovely little gecko who, not having water bottles like us, obviously appreciated the rain water that had accumulated on the picnic table. We appreciated its beautiful coloration and amusing antics - geckos are always fun to watch! 1. Heh, I even recognize the resting table there. In our case this critter appeared:

Suddenly, a red critter appears... After a 4-hour long steep climb, heavily packed, rained-down and leech bitten, we reached an oasis, a sheltered flat resting area at the top of Ranomafana National Park. Our arrival grabbed the immediate attention of this little devil, the Ring-tailed mongoose.<br />

They're very fun and active, not shy of humans at all, for one reason only: humans have food, and this critter has an appetite for anything edibale. Galidia elegans,Geotagged,Madagascar,Ranomafana National Park,Ring-tailed mongoose

    1. So you not only identified the animal but also the table!! LOL. Your visitor was cooler though. We didn't see any of those but your pictures are tremendous! Posted 8 years ago
      1. Thank you. What I remember most is that all day there was one hell of a rain shower, and our guide said we shouldn't go. As we had only one day there, we went anyway. A harsh but rewarding walk. I'm most happy with the giraffe weevil, it was a mission :) Posted 8 years ago
