Blue Throated Goldentail - featuring a bright pink bill Hummingbirds are very difficult to identify, especially if you see them in the forest away from the hummingbird feeder! Hummingbirds are very difficult to identify, especially if you see them in the forest away from the hummingbird feeder! However, these came to visit the wonderful canopy terrace at La Cusinga jungle lodge and with that amazing pink bill, the identification was fairly straightforward.

The blue-throated sapphire is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is found in Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.
