
Oceanic Black Tip Shark
Saw This Oceanic Black Tip Shark - Carcharhinus limbatus during a chumming dive.
The Dive Operator brings a small container of small fishes and chum the waters in front of a tuna processing plant. They had to bring the chum for the dive because the tuna factory was closed that day, hence not releasing any leftovers or carcass of tunas into the sea. Within minutes, tens of Oceanic Black Tip Sharks showed up to check out the chums and I managed to get some video footage of them going after small pieces of fish. After about 20 minutes of this, the chum finishes and again within minutes, all of the Sharks disappeared!
The blacktip shark is a species of requiem shark, and part of the family Carcharhinidae. It is common to coastal tropical and subtropical waters around the world, including brackish habitats. Genetic analyses have revealed substantial variation within this species, with populations from the western Atlantic Ocean isolated and distinct from those in the rest of its range.
