    1. Yeah, they are pretty amazing and relatively easy to see if you are in the right area (unlike jaguars!). I had seen several documentaries and was thrilled to see them especially as I had expected for them to be harder to see. I still have never seen a European or North American otter in the wild! The giant otter is a South American carnivorous mammal. It is the longest member of the Mustelidae, or weasel family, a globally successful group of predators, reaching up to 1.7m. Atypical of mustelids, the giant otter is a social species, with family groups typically supporting three to eight members.
