Sri Lanka Blenny
This is a very interesting photograph, as it was taken at the coast of Sri Lanka (Tangalle), on some rocks next to the beach. If you look around for the species identification, you will discover that it only looks like two species (Alticus monochrus or Alticus anjouanae) neither of which is said to occur in Sri Lanka! Since monochrus occurs much closer (the Maldives), I have decided it must be this one - but if anyone has any other thoughts I would be very interested in hearing them. If true, this would mean that Wikipedia and Fishbase are currently wrong!
''Alticus monochrus'' is a species of combtooth blenny in the genus ''Alticus''. It is a tropical blenny found in Madagascar and Réunion, in the western Indian Ocean. It can reach a maximum total length of 10 centimetres . The blennies feed primarily off of benthic algae. They are oviparous.
