Black Mexican Cenote Catfish This is one of the most common fish you can see in the cenotes (limestone sinkholes in caves) in the Yucatan in Mexico. I took this photo in the Dzitnup cenote, to be exact. I am not positive about the identification, but lots of internet searches seem to suggest this one - but I am happy to be corrected by someone who knows their Middle American freshwater fish! Rhamdia guatemalensis is a three-barbeled catfish found in Mexico, Central and South America. They are nocturnal, opportunistic carnivores.
